Prices and VAT

Prices are in euro and include VAT: antiquarian and second-hand items are sold under the margin scheme (art. 36 of Italian Decree-Law 41/1995), so the displayed price is the final price and VAT is neither shown separately nor deductible. Any amount shown in US dollars is indicative only, converted at the current day's rate. Shipping and insurance are not included and are quoted separately according to destination.

Descriptions

Every item is described with care. Fuller descriptions and further images are available on request. Unless otherwise stated, items are complete and in good condition.

Availability

All offers are subject to prior sale: the availability of each item is confirmed at the time of order.

Payment

Accepted methods: wire transfer, MasterCard, Visa, American Express. Payment details are given on the proforma invoice. Items are shipped once payment has been received, unless otherwise agreed.

Shipping and insurance

Items are shipped by insured carrier; costs and delivery times are communicated before the order is confirmed. Where the buyer expressly declines insurance, the risk of loss or damage in transit is borne by the buyer. This does not apply to private consumers resident in the EU/EEA, for whom, as required by law, the risk remains with the seller until delivery, unless the carrier was chosen by the customer.

Export

Items are shipped with any necessary export documentation. Items over seventy years old may require an Italian export licence (attestato di libera circolazione or licenza di esportazione): the relevant timescales do not depend on the seller and, in the rare event of refusal, the sale is cancelled and fully refunded.

Returns and guarantees

• Conformity with the description: items that do not correspond to their description may be returned within one week of receipt for a full refund (in line with the ILAB Code of Usages and Customs).
• Legal guarantee (private customers): private customers benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity; for second-hand and antiquarian goods its duration is agreed at one year from delivery.
• Right of withdrawal (private customers resident in the EU/EEA): a private customer resident in the European Union or the European Economic Area who purchases at a distance may withdraw within fourteen days of receipt, without giving a reason, as provided by law (a model withdrawal form is available). Return costs are borne by the customer; the item must be returned intact, properly packed and insured. Withdrawal does not apply in the cases provided by law, including purchases concluded at public auction.
• Private customers resident outside the EU: in place of the statutory right of withdrawal, the item may be returned within seven days of receipt, subject to prior notice, intact and in the same condition, with return shipping, insurance and any customs charges borne by the customer.
• Professional and institutional buyers: the right of withdrawal does not apply to sales to professionals, libraries, institutions and trade colleagues; the return for non-conformity set out above still applies.

The seller

The website is operated by two companies (see Company information). The selling company issuing the invoice for each sale is indicated on the proforma and invoice for the item.

Governing law and jurisdiction

Contracts are governed by Italian law. For disputes with non-consumer buyers, the courts of the selling company's registered office have jurisdiction; mandatory consumer-protection rules remain unaffected, including the jurisdiction of the consumer's place of residence or domicile.
